Performing any physical or mental activity at an elite level requires an immense amount of practice. First, let’s define practice:

“An activity that is repeated over time to get better”

Now, let’s understand how practice affects our brain. Our brain consists of two matters — grey matter and white matter. Grey matters send signals to neurons through white matters and we perform physical activity. The pathway through which the signal travels is called axons.

These axons are insulated with myelin. When we repeat any activity repeatedly, the myelin thickness around the axons increases, and signals can travel smoothly and quickly through axons. When signals travel smoothly, we perform the activity effortlessly.

So practice improves the signal transportation by thickening the insulation around the axons. Now the question comes, how should we practice effortlessly? How should we maximize our practice time?

Here are some tips that we can use to practice effectively:
